Getting Better Results from AI Report Commentary

Panamplify’s AI narrative commentary gives you a first draft of the “why” behind your client’s numbers. Like any AI tool, the quality of what comes back depends a lot on what you ask for. A few practical tips based on what actually moves the needle.

Be Specific, Not Vague

A vague instruction like “focus on CPC” tends to produce a narrow, thin result — the AI calculates the current figure and moves on to other things without much depth. A specific instruction like “calculate CPC and compare it to last month” produces a materially better result, because you’ve told it exactly what comparison you want, not just what topic to mention.

Ask for Comparisons Explicitly

Left to its default behavior, commentary tends to stay close to how the previous month’s report was written, and will often reference only the metrics that came up last time — even if something new is more noteworthy this month. If you want a specific month-over-month or year-over-year comparison called out, ask for it directly rather than assuming it’ll be included.

One Clear Ask Beats a Stacked One

Instructions that ask for one specific thing (“compare CPC to last month”) tend to outperform broad, open-ended ones (“add insights and analysis”), which mostly just make the result longer and more generic without adding real substance. If you want the AI to check its own work — for example, “check last month’s commentary for errors” — expect it to occasionally flag something that isn’t actually wrong. Treat that kind of self-check as a prompt for a human read-through, not a final verdict.

Always Read Before You Send

Treat every AI-generated narrative as a strong first draft, not a finished report. It occasionally produces phrasing that reads as if it’s talking to you rather than writing client-facing copy — that’s an easy catch on a quick read-through, and worth doing every time before a report goes out the door.
